We have 4 different age groups for our classes. We understand that every child is different and we are not strict about moving to the next age group as soon as they are of age. We work with parents & children to a pace that suits. Our class info below should help to understand our objectives for each group. The main focus is always "to have fun"

5-7yrs Academy

This class is to challenge and inspire. With activities like silent scenes, prop integration, and mini-musicals, young performers will enhance their creativity, coordination, and confidence, ready to shine on stage. Join us for a fun and enriching experience!

Activities

Our activities vary according to our term pattern but children will enjoy:

Learning outcomes

At Lemon Jelly, our performing arts programs for 5-7 year olds focus on nurturing creativity, improving coordination, and building confidence. Through fun and engaging activities, young children learn basic dance steps, simple acting techniques, and expressive movement. They develop better listening skills, enhance their ability to follow instructions, and gain the confidence to perform in front of others. These early experiences in performing arts help foster a love for creativity and self-expression that can last a lifetime.

Progression Journey

Children from this class progress onto the 8-10Yrs academy where they participate in similar activities but in greater depth. They are also introduced to LAMDA from aged 8 (an opportunity to take exams) Their script work is in greater depth, enhancing literacy skills and creativity. Choreography is more structured and challenging.

8-10yrs Academy

This class will push young performers to the next level. Participants will dive into advanced storytelling, intricate dance routines, and sophisticated vocal techniques. We focus on creativity, coordination, and confidence, preparing kids to shine on stage & in life.

Activities

Activities include silent scenes, prop integration, and producing mini-musicals with multiple scenes. With a focus on expressive movement, rhythm patterns, and costume design, our program fosters creativity, coordination, and confidence, preparing kids to shine on stage. Join us for an exciting and transformative journey in the performing arts! We introduce children to LAMDA exams through the acting syllabus at this stage.

Learning outcomes

By participating in Lemon Jelly’s performing arts program for ages 8–10, students will develop expressive movement and storytelling skills, confidently using their voice, body, and props to convey emotions and ideas. They will learn to integrate rhythm and musicality into performances, collaborate effectively on multi-scene mini-musicals, and explore costume design to enhance creative storytelling. Through activities like silent scenes, improvisation, and prop-based exercises, children will build confidence, empathy, and teamwork, while gaining professional acting foundations through the LAMDA syllabus. This program nurtures creativity, coordination, and stage presence, empowering young performers to shine in every aspect of their craft.

Progression Journey

To progress to the FUSION stage in the Lemon Jelly performing arts program, children aged 8–10 will build a strong foundation of skills to tackle advanced challenges. They will demonstrate confidence in performance, articulate delivery, and expressive movement, preparing them for nuanced acting techniques. Experience with multi-scene mini-musicals will equip them for longer, more intricate scripts and deeper character work. By developing creativity through improvisation, prop use, and costume design, they will gain independence and problem-solving abilities. Strengthened teamwork and leadership skills will prepare them for ensemble and directing roles, while familiarity with the LAMDA syllabus lays the groundwork for higher-grade exams. This ensures a smooth transition to the teenage program, ready to refine their craft and take on more complex roles.

FUSION THEATRE

Age 11+

Our Drama and Musical Theatre programs for teenagers are designed to refine and elevate their performance skills. Students will master complex storytelling techniques, advanced choreography, and sophisticated vocal training, including harmonisation and solo performances. Our program builds advanced skills, confidence, and stage presence, preparing teens for professional and academic opportunities.

Activities

They'll tackle high-level improvisation, deep character analysis, and method acting. Activities include silent scenes with nuanced emotion, intricate prop usage, and producing full-scale musical numbers with layered scenes. Emphasis on expressive movement, rhythm mastery, and professional-grade costume and set design will push their creative boundaries. LAMDA is highly encouraged at this stage.

Learning outcomes

Advanced performing arts activities in FUSION focus on developing high-level acting, directing, and public speaking skills. Students will master improvisation, deep character analysis, and method acting to deliver authentic, emotionally nuanced performances, including silent scenes and layered full-scale musical productions. They will enhance rhythm mastery, expressive movement, and professional-grade costume and set design, pushing creative boundaries. Directing skills are cultivated through leading scenes and managing complex productions, fostering leadership and collaboration. Public speaking confidence and stage presence are honed through vocal control, articulation, and commanding performances.

Progression Journey

With the LAMDA syllabus highly encouraged, students build a professional foundation in acting and directing, preparing them for advanced qualifications, higher education, and future careers in the performing arts and life!

JELLY TOTS 3-5yrs

Storytelling, Music & Movement with LOADS of fun!

Activities

Welcome & Warm up (always starts in a circle to invite team work, listening and confidence).

Creative movement, following the leader, freeze, co-ordination exercises and fun movement to music.

Drama exploration with pretend play, emotions and storytelling.

Finish with gentle stretching and reflection of the class.

Sticker time to reward the efforts during the class.

Learning outcomes

For children aged 3–5, performing arts activities focus on developing motor skills, creativity, and confidence. Through movement, music, imaginative play, and role-playing, children enhance body awareness, rhythm, and coordination. They learn to express emotions, follow instructions, and collaborate with peers in group activities, fostering early social and communication skills. Using props and costumes to tell stories sparks imagination and self-expression, while building a love for performance and laying a foundation for future artistic growth.

Progression Journey

As children transition into the 5–7 year old performing arts class, they build on the foundational skills developed in earlier stages and attend for 2hrs. They take on more structured activities, such as simple choreography and character work, while continuing to explore creativity through role-play, songs, and storytelling. With a greater focus on teamwork and following directions, they begin to develop confidence in performing in front of others and learn to collaborate effectively in group performances. This transition helps them prepare for more complex performing arts challenges in the future.
